The Samsung Impression claims to be the first phone with an AMOLED screen -– that stands for “Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode,” but what it means is it has a screen with high contrast, sharp resolution and vivid, retina-burning color.
The AMOLED screens are very thin, durable and despite the brightness, require comparatively little juice. You get all that pixel power without crushing your battery.
The Impression, which will be priced at about $200 in April through AT&T, isn’t a smartphone, but it does have a touchscreen Qwerty keyboard, GPS and navigation and the now standard capability to play music and, of course, video. It also has a three-megapixel camera.
